A New Day, A New Beginning: Embracing Presence and Compassion
A quote from Thich Nhat Hanh about the importance of presence and compassion in our daily lives.
Dear Fellow Meditators,
Thank you for joining me for the third edition of our newsletter! I hope your 2025 is off to a wonderful start. I truly enjoy sharing these small reflections with you and hope they bring value to your life.
This week’s quote comes from the late beloved teacher Thich Nhat Hanh:
“Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.”
Reflections
These words, taken from Thich Nhat Hanh’s book Peace Is Every Step, serve as a powerful reminder that each day is a fresh beginning. The simple act of waking up is a gift—another 24 hours to be present, to embrace life, and to meet the world with compassion.
Hanh invites us to let go of yesterday and stop worrying about tomorrow, instead focusing on the only moment we truly have—this one. Through presence, we cultivate kindness, both for ourselves and for others.
Pause and Reflect
- How can you be more present in your day?
- What small reminders can help you stay mindful and compassionate over the next 24 hours?
- What situations in your every day life could you bring more compassion to? Is there a person that comes to mind?
With gratitude,
Marco Angelo,
