Looking Within
Reflections and meditations on some ancient wisdom from Carl Jung
Hey fellow meditators,
Is it just me, or is this year flying by? All the more reason to slow down and be present.
This month’s quote isn’t directly about meditation, but it’s from a wise psychologist and happens to be one of my all-time favorites:
“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens”
Honestly, this is one of those quotes I’d love to have printed and hanging on my wall—just as a daily reminder to pause and look inward.
Some Thoughts
I really believe there’s an entire universe within each of us, waiting to be explored. Meditation forces us to do that—to sit, to notice, to really tune in to what’s happening within us.
What is this experience we’re having, right in this moment? What does it mean to be aware of it? And who is the one observing it all?
Jung’s quote reminds us that looking outside involves engaging with the external world—ambitions, desires, comparisons, and influences. This often fuels dreams, aspirations, and fantasies. However, true awakening comes from looking within, confronting one’s fears, understanding one’s patterns, and embracing self-awareness.
For Your Next Meditation
Next time you sit down to meditate, maybe ask yourself:
- How am I feeling right now, in this very moment?
- Where do I actually feel this emotion in my body?
Whatever comes up—good, bad, neutral—just let it be there. Give it space. No need to change it or fix it. Just notice with a gentle curiosity.
If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to reach out.
Take care,
Marco Angelo,
